A Scared Mountain

There’s dignity in death
Give your life for a cause, they say
Hand me a medallion , paste my picture on a few walls
Forget me as the another of their wicket falls
I fight in my land
Against my county?
I fight for my people
When they are reduced to obituaries
My war, their call
My home, their door
A bird afraid to fly
A cage scared of the key
Am I a martyr?
Or just a footnote in this book of lies
When it rains
It rains stones
The river is red now
The trees burn
The leaves no longer on the canvas of the painters
The leaves no longer the messengers of the lovers
A river afraid to flow
I am a mountain scared of the snow
