A Winter Sunset

The winter clouds chase their way swiftly towards the fleeting sun
Misty tendrils of snow lower upon the hills as darkness descends on the city below

As the night falls, festive lights brighten, radiating through the night
The fireplaces and the heaters begin their quest to diffuse their warmth throughout residences

Families gather around, celebrating the holidays, together for one of few times in the year
Friends have fun, enjoy each other’s presence, joining each other for experiences that occur sparsely throughout the year

And tomorrow the wind will blow across the desolate plains as the snow falls like sheets indiscriminately across all land
But although isolation is enforced by the conditions outside, the community will join, at least in spirit, for the day of celebration

And the sky goes dark on Christmas Eve.
