Animals Masks, by Isabella Ciarcia

Come to the final realisation.

Thanks to all the bearers

For their loud and silent remarks.

It’s so easy to speak and

it’s still free in this country.

Hypocrisy, they call it “common sense” and everybody

Seems to have one.

But the curtain has been drawn,
Eventually

And the jury’s verdict is announced.

In a crowded courtyard

A naked soul stands.

Only a book

In her hands.

Left alone with the wolves.

But who knows

If she is not a wolf herself

And now she can finally

Join her pack

Or wander alone

In the dark.
