they say
lived in blissful ignorance
perhaps just a faint perception
a hint of an idea
of the more that lies on the other side
they were warned
they were told
their illusions were safe
protected
protective
should they choose more
those precious illusions
would have to be sacrificed
shattered
this is our curse
and our gift
just like fire
knowledge has the power to create
and destroy
from apples
to apocalypse
this is our curse
