As I Went Out One Morning

Immortal fireflies
Wink at us all;
Bubblegum-coloured cream
Wraps its hands around;
Little diamonds
Moisten my shoes;
Tiny smiles
Play on your eyelashes.
A youthful smell
Of morning grass
And a thousand
Spring kisses;
Clouds of happiness
Emerge
From every dust-covered step.
In and Out —
No rest for the wicked.
Eternally beautiful future
On the back of a nickel;
Floral dress,
Soft as a prayer.
Tired wake-ups,
Invigorating goodbyes,
Careless cuddles,
Intriguing glances,
Silent flirting
And restless farewells.

Disappearing image
Of yesterday’s troubles
Fades at a sight
Of a stunning adolescent
Creature
Of Denver on the horizon.
