Autumn Reading

That which seemed to be endlessly primrose and green,
and then scarlet and gold in its glory,
in late Autumn is turning to yellow and brown;

in full flower we took to the stage;
now come Autumn we savour the fruits, or we doze
as dry leaves tumble onto the page.
