Autumn Reading
Aug 29, 2017 · 1 min read

That which seemed to be endlessly primrose and green,
and then scarlet and gold in its glory,
in late Autumn is turning to yellow and brown;
this succession is everyone’s story.
On the threshold of life we were green, full of sap;
in full flower we took to the stage;
now come Autumn we savour the fruits, or we doze
as dry leaves tumble onto the page.
