Awaiting Rain
When would you come —
to wash things and renew them
to sprout life
to heat-swipe
to spring new flowers
to create chill showers
to blossom new hopes
to bring down old mopes
to flourish happiness
to spread greenness
When would you come —
to show us the way to freedom
to kill this heat
to mark victory and new feat
to make the birds chirp
to make us bathe in dirt
to make rivers flow
to make mountains glow
to make us come out
to make us shout
I am awaiting you my dear rain
those droplets and their train
I am awaiting that sound and song
I am awaiting that music —
those great thunder-dong
I am awaiting the soil’s smell
I am awaiting the drains swell
I am awaiting the water
the Earth is in pain
I am awaiting you rain…
I am awaiting you rain!
