bloody hands

hours of
cramps

handful of pills

blood
in the bowl

and…

done

until its not.

until governmental bureaucracy
steps in
and demands

a right to
speculate

stick a speculum
into the vaginas
of millions

and state

“state morality
above
bodily autonomy”

then women
are left

to pop pills
they bought on sale
from the internet

fall down
the stairs;
at least three flights

wash their tubes
with bleach,
turpentine

and poke themselves

at times to death

with knitting needles
or coat hangers
because suddenly

safety doesn’t exist

because religion
is of higher import
than health
