--

the tip of my tongue
tingles as i twist it
from your mouth
as i take it back
fully
into mine

and my mouth has
already forgotten you
as i fill it with wine
and small words
and water
weeping down my throat

my skin is soft,
and settled, as i
smooth my hands
down my arms
my legs
never thinking of your touch

yet my eyes still reach
for that sliver moon
sliding along the sky
when your eyes
connected with mine
in the coal blue light

and my chest, that cavern
where my heart resides
and thuds
and thumps
it clamps down
on this portent of tears

but my legs
do not fold
they do not crumple
they tense
and they hold
steadfast against the night.
