Picture taken by me. As I was walking by the streets near home, I’ve encountered the broken piano and started to wonder how it came about, how it ended up this way. That’s the inspiration behind this poem.

Broken piano down the streets
broken dreams in between the sheets
tears fluttered in his eyes
as he was standing here for a while
facing the consequences of an ill destiny
passions blurred by unreliable symphonies
the eviction team tossed all he held dear away
a difficult sadness that’ll take time to sway
New York City has been his beacon of hope
but money and twisted politics had him on a tight rope
drowning in booze doing little to numb
he knew deep down that he had to go
his music has suffered, everything feels dumb
all that’s left sympathize with endless sorrow
the musician lurks for his artistic soul
in vain he tosses and turns deep in this rabbit hole
broken hearts can’t endure a novel start
nonetheless, he has to keep on playing his part.
