bundle of joy

i stood at the edge of the door,
glancing inside, i looked at her,
i raised my hand and waved,
an uncertain smile on my face,

she stood up and looked at me,
with a face full of intrigue,
suddenly, she burst out laughing,
so contagious, i smiled widely,

innocence reflected in her eyes,
unmindful of the world outside,
looking pretty in a white dress,
she was a bundle of joy, i confess,

i moved on but i cannot forget,
her laughing face, her tiny hands,
standing small in her wooden crib,
she, an orphan, a mother-less child.
