I had achieved what I thought I had wanted all along

But it wasn’t what I wanted anymore

That rocked me to my core

The realisation flicked the safety switch in my brain

The one that makes us stay the same

In the secure space we know

It holds us in the status quo

The place where we are warm

Sheltered from the cold

But never feeling whole
