Cloud Cover

An unbroken layer of clouds hangs low above the land,

like a blanket or a fitted sheet that encloses us.

It seems to have a cottony texture and an off-white hue,

below which we work and play,

nuzzled in its warm embrace,

sheltered from infinity.
