Clouds Obscure the Blue

Arms stretched back in ease
hands behind my head
with a smile
that says
no more blue skies.

“Don’t be sad,”
she said,
“It’s only me,”
she said.

After all the strange
difficult days
trying like the sun
and coming up short
it’s not agony lying still
for once.

“Don’t be sad,”
she said,
“Close your eyes,”
she said.

On the grass
on my back
watching the clouds
obscure the blue.
