My son’s traveling through Europe I want him to have that right,

daughter studying in Dublin with it’s charms and its delights,

go on holiday to Spain soon,

watch United play in Greece,

I’m off to Moscow for the world-cup,

weekend with the wife in Nice.

My employer is an Austrian I drive a German car,

my housemate is from Poland lads weekend away in Prague,

nip over to Calais to stock up on wine and beer,

with an excursion to Amsterdam where red lights are so near.

My favourite beer is Belgian and my bacon’s always danish,

Iceland has volcanoes and that makes it pretty famous,

in Italy the villages as beautiful as jewels,

but the country being run by a group of corrupt fools.

I’d like to visit Luxembourg and see the history,

then a little southern excursion to ski at Chamonix,

I hear Hungary is beautiful and Bulgaria is rocking,

head to Turkey for the kebabs back to Paris for some shopping.

If in Finland I’ll be sure to sauna,

Sweden to see social reformers,

Norway for the snow and fjords,

England for a nice cheese board.

I’ll sail up the Baltic visit Riga Talin and Vilnius

then drive through great forests to see Bucharest Kiev and Minsk.

Arrive in Kosovo I see the legacy of wars,

now we see a great migration this cannot be an encore,

when every countries full but needs to take more people more,

Europe’s overcome the worst evil now this we can’t ignore.

So these are our neighbours, Europe’s really not that big,

population half of what India and China’s is,

and Europe isn’t perfect often stupid sometimes clever

whether Britain remains or leaves we’ll still all need to work together.

Where you’re born should be irrelevant, not part of a divine plan,

to be human is ubiquitous respect your fellow woman,

this world it is a tapestry sewn by every creed and colour,

from the first explorer to our newest arriving brother,

just one chance to act now then for history to see

do we build bigger fences or build bigger communities.
