A beautiful friend I made

Somewhere beyond the city life
Are kids who barely thrive
Their feet massage the earth
With hope they barely have
In their smile beauty reside
On their skin; a curse they cannot hide
Ignorance; the predator to their innocence
Still lingers on the minds of their guardians
As we are busy being the city’s audience
They slip unnoticed, beneath our nonchalance.

I live under the spell of the third house. Possessed, and cannot be saved.
