Hematopoiesis

Gushing
Draining
Empty
The veins were opened
But the blood stopped flowing
The plasma clotted
The words got stuck in the scab
Itching fingers were unsatisfied
Reaching and picking
Sobbing
Silence
Solitude
The veins will dry one day
The bloodletting will come to an end
New letters will be birthed in the bone marrow
They will race through the arteries
They will give the heart life.
