Here is what’s certain

in life:

Taxes and death.

But not always in that order.

Sometimes

they join forces

as probate,

a fate worse

than dying

Then there’s tax time

when you get that notice

from Simple Tax

reminding you

(those sarcastic, sadistic shits),

‘Hooray! It’s tax season!’

and you wish

you were dead
