Deja-vu

Like the trails of skipping stones
Across the surface of the pool
So our steps
So the towers we raise
So the arc of me and you
Rippling circles
Merging
Lapped and overlapped
Widening until
Mere shadows reach the farther shore

All this we knew
All this we know
Still we stretch to find
the perfect fit of hand and rounded stone
the perfect form
we cast and cast again
returning stone to sea to be cast up again
small wonder this feeling
deja-vu
