Dragons

Image by Piotr Siedkecki, PublicDomainPictures.net under CCO Public Domain License

The air we breathe today
Was once the breath of dragons
In places strange and far away.
Someday some say
They will return
And once again the air will burn
With the sulfurous stench
Of their fiery breath.

And when they spread their wings of death
And through the skies
Of crimson soar,
Who will rise
To meet their wrath?
Or stand before their thunderous roar?
