I saw spring unshackle buds, blooms, and leaves,
long nights forgotten under our warm sun.

You said those trees resembled skeletons
with bony dead fingers clawing the sky.

Dear, you were a fleeting fascination,
who tore a hole in me, gaping, red, raw.
