Dream to Sleep

Petals passed and stones cut
A whisper pierced; alone
Intoxic laughs, addictions numb
Hoarded paper, hoarded praise

Even all the sleep without dreams
Couldn’t put her Dream to sleep

Bills passed and groceries cut
A voice pierced; home
Sober stares, exquisite restraint
Empty pockets, empty name

Even all the sleep without dreams
Couldn’t put her Dream to sleep
