Dreams

Maybe dreams hold the clue to death
Realistic occurrences
Colours and adventures
Or vast deserts of the void
Feelings that burn and destroy
Undisturbed yet beckoning.
Let go upon awaking

Maybe dreams hold the clue to death
And living would be an illusion
Of accumulated impressions
Of things acted or ignored
Of the rational and absurd
Temporary yet tempting
Let go upon dying

Is what happens in a dream not urgent?
Is what’s felt in life not important?
I wish, I pray, I beg, I rue-
To unsee and take a deep breath
For dreams may hold the clue to death-
But life- life is just as true.
