Dreams

I knew I was awake, but it did not seem
The leaves turned to butterflies and the rain turned to tears
It became clear that I was in a daydream
And that I heard voices singing through my ears

I couldn’t even hear myself scream
My mouth was paralysed and I was in complete awe
A nightmare is what you call this dream
Nothing less, nothing more

All I felt was power
It was a lucid dream, one of many
I finally defeated my abuser
I hadn’t seen him since I was twenty
