afraid that life is not worthwhile
and dreams are only rock and earth
fearful souls slowly slip
away into the dark unknown
and unsung — locked inside
desperate hearts wanting love
with no one to embrace they wait
to be embraced by the cold
to be laid down in solitaire
as dark damp earth waits to enfold
