Embracing the Bell

So I am a teacher,
Maybe you can tell-
When September hits,
I am a distant ripple
Fading out to sea.
Passions shift,
That is our plight;
Summer journeys
Of the heart
Make autumn’s call
A civic duty,
And one that
Fortune sends.
Bravely we ascend;
A guide unlike the others,
Entrusted with the light
To help unearth new seeds-
To help our future see,
See a better world
And new reality.
So I am a teacher,
Maybe you can tell.
When September hits,
I embrace the sounding bell.
