Enough To Eat

Hangry, blood sugar defeat
The stomach cacophony
Empty gurgling rumblings
On repeat
Involuntary reaction
The lack of fuel
Feeling a fool
It’s temporary
Back to back meetings
Forgetting to eat
Imagine surviving everyday
With meager rationing
It’s not so unusual
In our cities and streets
For many to go to bed hungry
With not enough to eat
Zero on the electricity meter
The poverty line
Just a few feet from where we feast
