Eulogy to an Imaginary Little Hamster

Those empty eyes
In your adorable face
Seconds after death had claimed you
Pitch-black pupils passing
Through my catalogue of memories

Had you ever been a hamster?
A tiny mammal
Running through deceased meadows of golden grass
Little brain of huge affection

I created you
As an escape from what I truly lost
So I buried cold air
In the little garden behind the house

It had always been about so much more
