In days that passed so long ago,
A weapon was divinely placed
Into a rock and would bestow
The Kingship on a worthy face.

Fourscore men of noble blood
Tried to tame the mythic blade.
Every one, his efforts dud,
So in the stone the sword did stay.

Upon it came a boy alone
Who placed his hand upon its hilt
And drew it out, earning the throne
Upon which Britain’s greatness built.
