Experience Autumn

put on a folk song
smooth twang, wood and steel
drop the needle—slowly
allow autumn to roll in.

sigh a full, crisp release
mother nature touches each tree
watch sun fire up canopies
blazing landscapes gold.

fill a deep, heated pot
colors of harvest dripping
simmering orange and yellow
boil the taste of comfort—warmth.

listen through a rattled screen
hear painted leaves swirl
crisp edges dance against stone
along covered, dusty roads.

wander lush markets
alive with spilling bounty
hold on to cold fingertips
shiny apples, fuzzy peaches, pies.

thirst for spiced cider
bursts of cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet
breathe deeply—softly
let fall grab you
let fall cradle you.
