EYE CONTACT
We had eye contact
just that
across the dance floor
jam packed
he was with friends
they were five to be exact
I was having a girl’s night out
after ions in fact
the music was loud
so was the crowd
the DJ was spinning spells
track after track
he was taking it all in
I was dancing it all out
oblivious to each other
across from one another
we were doing our own thing
working the soundtrack
until lightning struck
some strobe lights tied up together
as if in conspiracy to attract
magic abstract
two life tracks
crossed paths
a brief story unwrapped
in that moment
a fleeting time lapse
we spoke —
we had eye contact
just that
neither of us was looking for more than that.
