Fear and Echo

It’s true, we fear judgment,
Rejection —
So we stay close
To those like us
Who talk like us
Who walk like us
Who dress like us
And think like us,
So we think:
Safe!
Inside our chamber,
Safe.

It’s easier —
Less risk
Less stress
Heads nod,
Agree!
Agree!

More peace
More comfort
Inside our chamber,
Safe.

But look around…

Look around
At what our comfort
Has brought upon
Our world.

And in the light of day
Outside our chamber:
The truth!
The price!

The heavy price
… we pay.

Tangential thoughts while reading Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s Antifragile.
