Flawless Creatures Don’t Need

Everyone has their secrets like
If you clip your finger-nails in the bathroom at work
And if you don’t? You have other ones.
Other strange maintenance during thunder-storms
Other demanding escapist tendencies,
loud chops behind shut doors.

And if you don’t
What did your parents feed you, and
was it always delicious?

Mine wasn’t.
This life isn’t perfect,
but for now I’m just glad I’m aware
of what rain smells like before I’ve left the house.
