Footprints

standing toe to toe

Squeak, squeak, squeaking,
Slide across slippery white sand.

Hot! Burn! Melting!
As fast as I can.

Leap, weave, shuffle
Over dried mounds of seaweed.

Soothe, sigh, sinking
Cool oozing air bubbles bead.

Heavy feet, falling clumps of sticky sand:
Footprints washed away –
Foaming waves soaking the land.
