From Letters to a Lie

It usually starts
with the noblest intentions;
letters spilling out
in a well intended mix
of vowels and consonants,
building a forthright base
on which verbs and adjectives
compound in height.
But somehow,
between the capitalization
and cessation
of a candid chronicle,
the assemblage goes awry.
The letters contort,
almost of their own volition ,
into perjured words
that when stacked together
no longer present
the genuine article,
but rather morph into
a magnificent monument
whose bricks,
built on sand
and slander, will crack
at the slightest provocation.
