write your heart in, she said
what’s left when you write her out anyway?

write your heart in, she said
you don’t have to wear her out on your sleeve
fear of her exposure, hurt, pain

write your heart in, she said
too often we forget the feelings
false safety when hidden away
let fear stop us from true expression
beautiful gift, vulnerability
why not start from there?

write your heart in, she said
as she reached in through your chest
and held her,
warm… tender… sweet
fragile, yet powerful

write your heart in, she said
pulling back out a pen

write your heart in, she said
write her in when she is smiling
and when she wails tears
write her in when she is pulsing
angry beats up in your ears

write your heart in, she said
give a hug and let her flow
when you choose to leave her out
she will surely know
