Snow storm, Iowa December 2009 — by Bruce Jacobs

The weather report during the evening news
Says we will get snowflakes overnight
The report said we should buckle down
Tonight and prepare for an inch or two
But I am a Midwesterner, I know
That means we will wake to a bit more
Probably a total of 2 to 4
❄️❄️❄️❄️

Later in the winter, snow still on the ground
Weather report this time says
Snow again tonight. 2 or 3 inches
Is all. We’ve got bread and milk
We should be able to survive
When we wake to 4 to 6 inches
Of beauty on the ground
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Kids want a snow day tomorrow, so they can play
So the weather report makes then smile
We have groceries and the heater works
The plan for 3 to 4 inches won’t worry us
Even when we wake to twice that much
The kids will play, we will work from home
Picture perfect snow day for us all
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Tonight the weather report has me scared
As anyone who has lived where snow
Falls regularly— white and deep
Tonight the prediction is for just a bit
“Flurries” was the word they used
Better get groceries before the
Crowds descend. For we will get a storm
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

For everyone knows…
Flurries means “women and children first”
The snow will bury the house this storm!
