Hyperion,

beautiful name,

I think I read it

in Shakespeare or a poem.

He was probably some sort of

Greek god

with a drink problem

and a hunger for women.

That’s the thing

about Greek gods

they just did

what they wanted.

Untroubled by my Catholic conscience

and the need to be good

they just had a good time

appearing in lines

of Shakespeare and poetry

and laughing at all my endless anxieties.
