don’t look in its eyes the sign will read

the blue of the water, and it’s greeny bleed

will grab you by beard, and by courage, and by jolly

and down to its depths it will vacuum your folly

the fall in its wake, the great swirl up-ahead

it won’t be the fun ride you foresee in your head

don’t raft it, don’t boat it, and by heavens do snub

any whims in your brain to go in it by tub

For long is the list of the scholars it’s devoured

who read mighty books about thrill’s super power

for though great be the hit to your nerves when you reach edge

at that pretty minute, you’ll not feel so privileged. . .
