In 2019, Bolsonaro, and his thugs, are killing your most precious places

Almost extinct, Christyl Rivers

I have not been in the Amazon
But all my life I’ve been enchanted
To know folded, secrets deep
Grow and twirl there, undaunted

But now, “Extraction industries”
Those that mine our Earth for wealth,
Level and burn the Amazon
And strangle our own health

Dark nights, I dream of forests green
Of jaguar, and sloth,
Their anguish, and their hunger,
Silent, still, beneath scorched undergrowth

No nests left for bright Macaws —
A leaping rainbow — free upstart,
My eyes are wet as if a Mighty river
Flows into a broken heart
