Inside

my perfect fit

I know a boy
whose fingers I want
to peel apart like swirls of
tangerine skin, and place my own
inside.

I know a boy
who makes me feel
flutters and jitters
of butterfly wings
inside.

I know a boy
who took my heart.
I didn’t need asking;
the cages of his ribs hold it
inside.

I know a boy
with turquoise pools
for eyes, I am swimming
through raging waves, lost
inside.

I know a boy
with a soul like mine.
A perfect fit,
so I crawled
inside.
