Isolation

A sign I walked past
“Religion X Cemetery”
So it coldly read

A sign that reeks of
Segregated isolationism
Even in death? I wonder

Somebody tell me
Is unbelief contagious?
Even in that silent existence?

Is it forbidden
Even in barren death
So to speak ‘mingle’?

Somebody tell me
Are we this dead
In thoughtless contagion

Is it reason
To live committed
To faithless unreason?
