Jaco’s tragedy

Jaco beat the bass,
taped, thumped, touched
no limits, no lies
in his lows and his highs

He played
till his fingers bruised
till his fate turned
till the fame tainted
till his ego tripped

His tragedy does not extinguish
his mellow madness
his solemn sound
from his steel strings
