Just Thinking

The heart’s invisible Furies,
taloned and tormenting,
assault the despairing self
like battalions of berserkers,
taking no prisoners.

War ravages the brain and soul
of anyone who happens to think.

Not battles easily won,
if ever won at all.

A continuity of
continuous conflict.

Struggles and skirmishes,
shattered hearts and minds,

fought out beneath a setting sun
where all is said, and all is done.
