life goes on

at the break of dawn today,
came the news of early death,
of an old friend, forgotten,

i didn’t go pay my respects,
i walked on the beach instead,
unfazed by the warm sun rays,

the waves caressed my feet,
and sweat bruised my brow,
amidst stillness of the wind,

a lonely kite gliding in the sky,
thoughts kept clouding my mind,
felt tired, i brushed them aside,

i walked home, carefully ahead,
without a worry for the present,
unmoved as time marched on.
