Telescopes sweep the sky for signs of life.
Nothing so far.
Are we awash in signals we can’t decode,
can’t even detect? Or is life just starting;

earth the first place, a launch pad from which
to mushroom through galaxies, much the way
our whole world is crawling with

myriad creatures spawned from a single source.
Highly improbable, I know — like anything else.

Earth back at the center, where our forebears had it.
