Life on the Edge

At the edge
I looked ahead at the benevolent glow
Taking form of forbidden colours and shapes
As they bent from the mirror of soul
A stretch of hand beyond horizon
Turned ever-distant distals to gold
All else paled in comparison
To this remedial touch for dull

A grip on the edge
Cut deep but I clutched
I yearned to unfold
The event to behold
The searing ledge brought the warmest touch

Time drew nigh
To peer beyond life
The sight of day in perpetual night
The sight of night after a drudging day
Wondering if I did it right
as I feel my conscience fade…
