women who won’t cry
who won’t crash
winter makes me worry about them
winter makes the grass white and wiry

like little bird bones
wrapped up in hair and lace
they dig little holes
and bend their little backs

undersides riddled with
scarlet scratches and scabs
cutting keyholes into their skin
