Lone Wolf

Wolf cub
lost in wilderness
the cold natures
battle against you

no alpha
to guide you
to nurture you
to call you their own
not anymore
not since she was
taken from you

you tread muddy paths
wipe your paws on grass
but no other packs may
greet you — lone wolf

yet here I am
my warm human
hands you nuzzle into
but I cannot be more than
your temporary pleasure
in a world of permanent pain.
