Loneliness
Isolated, miles away from anywhere.
The crash of waves against some rocks.
Some gulls above.
A chasm of water as far as the eye can see.
Solitary footprints neatly lined behind.
The cool breeze against my face.
It’s the loneliness that drives me mad.
There’s not a soul to share with;
not a soul to laugh with.
Who can forget the endless hope.
For someone to arrive,
or maybe say “hello”.
Wait. There’s a face in the distance!
…But it soon fades away.
Over a horizon, never ending.
Forever lost, again.
